First charity partner revealed

The Toronto Curry Awards team is delighted to announce that The Mississauga Food Bank has been chosen as a charity partner for next year’s event.

The central food bank provides more than 244,000 meals each month to local neighbourhoods and works to ensure that no one in the area goes hungry. Their objective is to offer a balanced and healthy diet to food bank users for seven or more days each month.

Nicole Abernethy, Corporate and Community Partnership Coordinator at the food bank said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Toronto Curry Awards as one of the official charitable partners. This event will offer a new and exciting platform for us to share our vision of having a Mississauga where no one goes hungry.”

Proceeds raised from the inaugural awards will go towards The Mississauga Food Bank who will receive 1.5% revenue from individual ticket sales along with additional funds raised through a charity auction on the night.

Romail Gulzar, Founder and President of the Toronto Curry Awards said: “Helping a charity like the Mississauga Food Bank is a great honour especially because of the work they do helping the hungry and those living below the poverty line. I am hoping the money  raised will provide the much-needed funds so they can continue doing their great work.”

The Toronto Curry Awards will take place next year in the city.
